丸かっこの内側にピリオドやカンマを入れてもいいの？

ピリオドやカンマは、丸かっこの外側に付けるのが基本です。

× We have decided to restart the CES (customer evaluation survey.)

○ We have decided to restart the CES (customer evaluation survey).

× Last year, we discontinued the CES (customer evaluation survey,) but it was restarted this year.

○ Last year, we discontinued the CES (customer evaluation survey), but it was restarted this year.

しかし、独立した文を丸かっこに入れる場合は、かっこの内側にピリオドを付けます。

○ The stock prices climbed steadily in May. (See figure on page 3.)

丸かっこの中に入れた短い文を別の文に組み込むときは、ピリオドはかっこの外に出し、かっこ内は小文字で始めます。

○ The stock prices climbed steadily in May (see figure on page 3).
